Review: DiorShow Iconic Mascara

I must start off saying, I love this mascara. I picked up my first tube of it not really thinking i’d find something better than my fav YSL Faux Cils but I did. Dare I say this is my holy grail mascara? Heck yeah it is!

Quick take: Dark, long, defined lashes. With everyday use, a tube will last you over 2 months. A+

DiorShow Iconic promises- A mascara with an innovative oblique brush that curls and defines lashes. With its long, skinny teeth, the plastic comb brush allows you to precisely coat each lash one-by-one-creating a long, separated fan of lashes that usually takes the skill of a makeup artist. The extra-hold formula provides a 24-hour-curl with 100% smudge-proof results.

What I liked: Not only did it perform like the package said it would, my lashes looked noticeably longer. I occasionally get asked if I’m wearing false lashes when I use this mascara! I love that this mascara never flakes or smudges, and even looks the same hours after you applied it. I don’t need to curl my lashes, the formula and brush do the curling for me. Best of all, I don’t feel like I’m wasting my money since a tube lasts for months with everyday use.

No likey: To hold the curl, the mascara gets a little stiff. Taking it off takes a little effort but it’s nothing a good makeup remover can’t remove.

No Mascara

2 coats of DiorShow Iconic, I did not curl my lashes

I’d buy this mascara over and over again. One coat of mascara looks nice and natural but two or more and you’ve got some drama! Although it costs $27, you get your moneys worth since it doesn’t dry out in a week like some other brands do.

Review: Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Mascara (Update)

Since I’m such a mascara junkie I picked up Maybelline’s Full N Soft mascara after reading glowing reviews on MakeupAlley. Everyone seemed to like this mascara but since MUA has disappointed me before, I decided to test it out myself.

Quick take: Does as promised on the packaging and cheap. Wish it lengthened better and was slightly darker since it’s called ‘very black’. B+

Maybelline promises on their packaging:

This mascara builds full, soft thick lashes without the brittle feel.

  • Prevents loss of lashes with patented Quick Dissolve System that allows easy mascara removal
  • No clumps, no globs
  • Contact lens safe and hypoallergenic
  • Washable; also available in waterproof formula

What I liked: It performed like the package said it would. It gave me tons of volume (it grabbed every lash!), applied cleanly and defined my lashes. This mascara was very layerable without looking spidery, and I experienced no flakes. My lashes stayed soft and curled all day. Taking it off was cake since it dissolved easily with eye makeup remover.

No likey: The package said it was ‘very black’ but it wasn’t all that dark on my lashes. It gave me tons of volume but that took several coats to achieve. It did nothing to lengthen my lashes.

No mascara

3 coats of Full ‘N Soft

The brush was pretty big but not gigantic.

I probably wouldn’t buy this mascara again since I’m more into dramatic mascaras. I’d recommend this to someone who wants natural and full looking lashes. The price easy to swallow at $6.49 (I think I got it for $5.49 at Target).

Review: Prestige My Biggest Lashes Mascara

I try to be frugal at times with mascara. Why spend a ton when you can get the same thing for cheaper? Oh who am I kidding, I’ve been known to spend $30 on mascara without batting a lash (har har har).

I have pretty good lashes, they’re long and full but they have blonde tips and stick straight out. I love to wear mascara everyday, and I love mascaras that give me doll-like lashes without looking freaky.

When I found Prestige’s “My Biggest Lashes- Big Lash Effect Mascara” (MBL) at the drugstore, I couldn’t resist it’s cute pink packaging and name. Besides, that tagline promises the doll-like lashes that I want.

The brush is pretty big, like Diorshow. The brush was able to get every little hair but wasn’t all that big that it was smudging against my skin.

Hello naked eye!

After one coat of MBL

After two coats of MBL, lashes separated. Look into my eye, you’re getting sleepyyyyyy.

I’m seriously hooked! I wasn’t expecting a mascara that performs as good as my holy grail mascara Diorshow Iconic, if not better. It made my lashes really longggggg and curled. The best was that my lashes didn’t fall flat during the day. I also love that it’s a super rich black (MBL comes in brown too). This mascara only really needs one coat to look really good. I tried three and it turned into Tammy Fay Baker…

Pros- it REALLY lengthens, thickens, darkens, curls, lasts all day without smudging , curl lasts all day.

Cons- lashes are a bit stiff but this is how it holds the curl, you need a good eye makeup remover to get it all off.

Overall, I love MBL and would totally pay a higher price than the $6.50 that it costs. I couldn’t find MBL at Target, but they carry Prestige MBL at Rite Aid.
